I really wanted to get to VIVID again this year. My goal was to get the family together for a night out. So, I organised a Harbour Cruise. Everyone was in and I booked the tickets.
Rather than booking a restaurant, we decided to keep things simple and relaxed. We packed a selection of snacks to enjoy by the water — cheese and crackers, dip, cabanosi, and a few other treats. There was something really nice about sitting together, grazing on snacks, chatting, and taking in the atmosphere rather than rushing through a meal in a busy restaurant.
The best part of the day was having all the kids together. As families grow and life gets busier, it becomes harder to find opportunities when everyone is available at the same time. Seeing everyone laughing, talking, and enjoying each other’s company made the night feel extra special.
As darkness fell, we boarded our harbour cruise and watched Sydney come alive with colour. The Vivid lights reflected across the water, creating a spectacular display. Every turn seemed to reveal something new — vibrant colours, illuminated buildings, and the beautiful Sydney skyline glowing against the night sky.

It was one of those simple outings that remind you how important family time really is. No big occasion, no fancy plans, just spending quality time together and making memories.
After such a wonderful night, I’ve decided this is something I’d love to do more often. Getting everyone together can take a bit of organising, but it’s always worth it. My goal is to plan a family day out every three months — a chance to reconnect, share some laughs, and create more memories together.

“Vivid Sydney: 10/10. Family photo cooperation: 2/10.” ✨📸
Haha, I think this above photo tells the whole story! 😂
Sarah, on the left looks ready for the camera and having a laugh, while Braedon and Kody have gone with the classic teenage survival strategy:
📸 “If I can’t see the camera, the camera can’t see me.”
Braedon, in the middle is giving a full facepalm as if he’s saying, “Mum, seriously… not another photo.”
And my grandson on the right, in the hoodie has perfected the, “Maybe if I hide behind my sleeve she’ll give up and walk away.”

These are the days I want more of. Life gets busy, everyone has their own schedules, but making time to get together and create memories is always worth it. I think I’ll definitely have to make this a regular family tradition every few months. ❤️✨
