Last week a group of our crafty ladies got together for lunch at High on the 80s in Penrith, and what a fun little adventure it turned out to be!
Walking through the doors felt like stepping straight back in time. Everywhere we looked there was something that brought back memories – old toys, posters, music memorabilia, games, television favourites and all those little treasures that instantly make you say, "Oh my goodness, I remember that!"
Of course, being scrapbookers and memory keepers, we couldn't resist stopping every few minutes to point something out, share a story, or take another photo. There were plenty of laughs as we reminisced about our school days, favourite TV shows, music we used to listen to, and all those things we'd completely forgotten about until we saw them again.
The restaurant itself was packed with nostalgic memorabilia, making it almost impossible to take in everything in just one visit. Every corner seemed to have another hidden treasure waiting to be discovered. I think we spent nearly as much time looking around and chatting about the displays as we did eating!
Naturally, lots of photos were taken. Between the colourful décor, quirky displays, and our happy group enjoying the day together, there were plenty of memories captured that will no doubt find their way onto future scrapbook pages.
One of the things I love most about these catch-ups is that they're about so much more than crafting. They're about friendship, connection, sharing stories, and making new memories together. Sometimes it's nice to put the paper, glue and scissors aside for a few hours and simply enjoy each other's company.
A big thank you to everyone who came along. It was such a lovely afternoon filled with laughter, conversation, good food, and a healthy dose of nostalgia.
If you've never visited High on the 80s, I'd definitely recommend adding it to your list. Just be prepared—you'll probably spend the whole time saying, "I had one of those!"

The man behind this nostalgic trip down memory lane is Trevor, the owner of local favourite Hair on High. Opening an 80s-themed café had been a dream of his for many years, and it's easy to see the passion that has gone into bringing it to life.
Trevor has been collecting 80s memorabilia since the decade itself, building an impressive collection of vintage toys, posters, signs, games and pop-culture treasures. Today, those treasured pieces fill every corner of the café, creating a fun and immersive experience for visitors.
