This weeks Mini 'Home is Where the Heart Is'
This week's Monday Mini is all about home, family, and the special memories that make a house feel like so much more than four walls.
The saying "Home is Where the Heart Is" has always resonated with me because, no matter where life takes us, there is something incredibly comforting about being surrounded by the people we love.
Home isn't always the building itself. Sometimes it's the laughter around the dinner table, the family photos on the wall, the pets under our feet, or simply knowing our loved ones are close by. It's where we feel safe, supported, and connected.
For many of us, some of our most treasured scrapbook layouts tell the stories of home and family, because those are often the memories that mean the most.
Layers, Layers and More Layers
If you've followed my Monday Minis for a while, you'll know I can never resist a good layer or two... or ten! 😊
This little project is packed with layers created from leftover papers and scraps from previous projects. Rather than letting those beautiful pieces sit forgotten in a drawer, I trimmed them into tags and tucked them throughout the design.
It's a wonderful way to use up your stash while adding lots of interest, dimension, and little surprises throughout the project.
The Sweetest Little House
One of my favourite elements on this mini has to be the adorable corrugated house embellishment.
Isn't it cute?
It instantly draws the eye and perfectly captures the theme of home, warmth, and belonging. The texture from the corrugated finish adds another layer of interest and helps create that cozy handmade feel that I love.
Room for Stories
While I love embellishments and decorative details, I always try to leave space for the story.
After all, memory keeping is about preserving the moments, thoughts, and feelings behind the photos.
This mini includes plenty of room for journalling, and I've intentionally left one side open so I can tuck additional ephemera, notes, keepsakes, or even a photo underneath later on.
Those hidden little pockets often become some of my favourite parts of a project.
Future Plans
I have a feeling this little mini won't stay on its own for long.
I can already imagine incorporating it into a larger scrapbook layout featuring a photo of our home or perhaps one of those family photos that instantly brings back happy memories.
That's one of the things I love about these smaller projects—they often become the starting point for something bigger.
Give It a Try
If you have a pile of paper scraps, leftover tags, or embellishments sitting on your craft desk, why not challenge yourself to create a mini layout of your own?
Sometimes the simplest supplies create the most meaningful projects.
And remember, home isn't always a place—it's the people, memories, and moments that fill our hearts.
Until next time...
