Sometimes the simplest photos end up being the ones we treasure the most. This layout captures one of those everyday moments – a sunny afternoon spent blowing bubbles and having fun. There was no special occasion, just a little boy completely absorbed in the magic of bubbles, and honestly, those are often the best memories to scrapbook.
For this page, I wanted the layout to feel bright, playful and full of energy, so I pulled together a collection of colourful scraps from my stash. The navy cardstock background provides a strong base and helps all those brighter colours really stand out.
Rather than reaching for full sheets of paper, I challenged myself to work with scraps. The orange, yellow, blue, black and white patterned papers were layered behind the photos to create interest, movement and lots of dimension. It’s a great reminder that those little leftover pieces are often perfect for scrapbook layouts.
The three photos were mounted onto layers of cardstock and patterned paper to help them become the focal point of the page. I also created my own photo corners using scraps of blue gingham paper. This is one of my favourite ways to add a little extra detail while using up smaller pieces that might otherwise sit forgotten in a scrap container.
To tie everything together, I used elements from my A4 Bubble Printable. The bubble bottle icons, circles, clouds and journalling spots all help reinforce the theme and add a fun whimsical touch. The circular embellishments scattered around the page mimic floating bubbles and help draw your eye across the layout.
The large white acrylic title creates a beautiful focal point against the darker background. Paired with the word “fun”, it perfectly sums up the carefree feel of the photos. Acrylic titles are one of those embellishments that instantly add dimension and help finish a page beautifully.
One of the things I love most about this layout is that it celebrates an ordinary moment. We often wait for birthdays, holidays and big milestones to scrapbook, but some of the most meaningful memories are found in these little everyday moments that make us smile years later.
If you’re looking for a way to use up your scrap paper stash, create your own photo corners, or document some simple family memories, this style of layout is a great place to start.
After all, scrapbooking isn’t just about preserving the big events—it’s about capturing those little moments that become our favourites.
