Monday Mini - "Playing House"

Monday Mini: Playing House

This week's Monday Mini scrapbook layout features a sweet little photo of my granddaughter busy playing house.

For this mini, I've combined a little Cocoa Vanilla Studio, a touch of Pink Paislee, a Project Life card, a "Hello" die-cut, and a handful of leftover embellishments from my stash. It's proof that you don't need lots of supplies to create a meaningful memory keeping project.

The Magic of Playing House

"Playing House" is one of those timeless childhood activities that seems to be loved by generation after generation.

There is something so precious about watching children imitate the everyday things they see happening around them. Whether they're pretending to cook dinner, look after babies, run a shop, or tidy the house, they are learning, exploring, and making sense of the world through imaginative play.

As both a parent and grandparent, I've had the privilege of watching this unfold many times over the years.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

Seeing this photo instantly brought back memories of when my own children were young.

I can clearly remember our lounge room being transformed into all sorts of exciting places.

One day it would be a school classroom.

The next day it might be a doctor's surgery.

And often it became a bus, with chairs lined up in rows and one enthusiastic child proudly taking on the role of bus driver while everyone else became passengers travelling to school, the shops, or wherever their imagination decided to go.

It's funny how such simple moments become some of our most treasured memories.

Why These Photos Matter

Photos like this might not seem important at the time.

There are no birthdays, holidays, or major milestones.

Just an ordinary day filled with imagination and play.

But years later, these are often the memories we treasure the most.

They remind us of personalities, interests, and those little everyday moments that can easily be forgotten if we don't take the time to document them.

That's one of the reasons I love scrapbooking and memory keeping so much.

It allows us to preserve not only the big events, but also the simple moments that tell the story of our lives.

A Quick and Easy Scrapbooking Idea

If you're short on time but still want to preserve your memories, give a Monday Mini a try.

Using a single photo, a few leftover embellishments, some scraps of paper, and a sentiment can be enough to create a beautiful little project in just a short amount of time.

These minis are perfect for:

  • Using up paper scraps

  • Finishing leftover embellishments

  • Documenting everyday moments

  • Creating mini scrapbook layouts

  • Adding pages to albums and journals

Before you know it, you'll have a collection of little memory-filled projects ready to incorporate into larger layouts, albums, or journals.

Capture the Everyday

Don't wait for the perfect photo or the perfect occasion.

The everyday moments matter too.

Those little snapshots of childhood, imagination, family, and fun often become the stories we treasure most.

So grab a photo, pull out your scraps, and create a little Monday Mini magic.

I promise, once you start, you'll be hooked!

Be sure to check back every Monday for a brand-new Monday Mini Scrapbooking Project and plenty more inspiration for using your stash and preserving your memories.

Until next time...
